I am delighted to welcome you to the recruitment website for the post of Headteacher at Woolley Wood Primary Special School. This post has arisen as our current head is retiring at the end of the summer term after 15 years with us. Woolley Wood is a school for children with severe and complex needs and many of our pupils have additional health and medical needs. We are an Outstanding school (Ofsted June 2009) and our pupil’s make amazing progress given the many challenges they face.

We are in an exciting and challenging period of our development as we are due to have a new purpose built school co-located with a Primary mainstream school in the north of the city. The school is scheduled to be completed in 2012. We are looking for an exceptional leader who can take the school forward into this next phase whilst maintaining the schools current success.

The new Headteacher will work in co-operation with the Yewlands Family of Schools with which we have a close working relationship. The Governors are committed to developing the schools partnership with the Yewlands Family of Schools (5 mainstream Primary and 1 mainstream Secondary) and several exciting projects and initiatives are currently underway.

Our pupils need a learning environment that nurtures and stimulates them. Our new Headteacher will require vision, creativity and dynamic leadership skills, to inspire staff to deliver an individualised primary curriculum of the highest quality.

Fellow governors and I look forward to meeting with applicants who feel they can maintain, uphold and enhance the values that Woolley Wood currently holds.

Please come and visit us if you think that this Headship is for you.

Ann Kilby
Chair of Governors
